Interior Design Master's Programme

Interior Design Master's Programme

The Interior Design Master's program is aimed at graduates from creative disciplines other than interior architecture or interior design, for example, those who have graduated from fields such as architecture and spatial design. The program is built on the creative foundations of students and provides the necessary expertise to implement creative and responsible solutions in the field of interior design. Strongly connected to the vibrant and dynamic city of Berlin, the program is conducted entirely in English. It is designed to help students understand their roles and responsibilities as interior designers in various physical and cultural contexts – whether at a local or global scale. Graduates of the program will have the competence to solve complex and creative design problems in new areas of expertise using the knowledge of interior design, design skills, and additional knowledge of interior discourse they have acquired.

Berlin International Educational Concept

The learning environment created at Berlin International is student-centered and practical. Our educational understanding focuses on project-based learning; students support their professional and personal development by participating in both individual and group work, and they develop teamwork skills. All undergraduate programs at Berlin International are conducted in English. The combination of our diverse student body and academic staff with our global network provides us with the opportunity to offer a truly international academic experience.

Program Curriculum

In a practice-oriented and supportive learning environment, a team of international faculty and professors encourages students to develop their existing knowledge and broaden their professional horizons.

The first year of the Interior Design program introduces students to the fundamental principles of interior design. It also provides students with advanced interior visualization skills through various design and research opportunities. Elective courses in design and technology allow students to gain knowledge in their preferred area. The second year offers more design and research opportunities; it also includes an elective course on “Theory and Communication” and two fast-paced real-life design projects (charrettes) that challenge students to develop all the necessary professional skills. In the final phase, students apply and deepen their acquired skills by completing a master's thesis and a master's design project on a topic of their choice.

Admission Requirements

This master's program is a consecutive program aimed at graduates of the Interior Architecture/Interior Design department and requires a bachelor's degree in Interior Architecture/Interior Design for application.
