Business | Data Science and Business Bachelor's Programme
Data in the business world is like new oil — it creates revolutions in societies and brings people together. Successful management in the digital age requires two skills: advocating for data science and business analytics by managing them with a global perspective. Our Bachelor's program in Data Science and Business at Berlin International offers exactly this combination. The program uses progressive teaching concepts to ensure that all students have a successful learning journey regardless of their backgrounds, bringing together humans and artificial intelligence. It combines data science and business.
Berlin International Educational Concept
The learning environment created at Berlin International is student-centered and practical. Our educational approach focuses on project-based learning; students participate in both individual and group work to support their professional and personal development and enhance their teamwork skills. All Bachelor's programs at Berlin International are conducted in English. The combination of our diverse student and academic staff with our global network enables us to truly offer an international academic experience.
Program Curriculum
All our Business students acquire the necessary foundations in their first year to progress successfully in their programs — there are no prerequisites. In the second and third years, students focus on their chosen areas of specialization.
In the BA Data Science and Business program, students gain a comprehensive foundation in both management and data science; emphasis is placed on the interdependence of these two areas in a data-driven economy. This foundation includes:
Traditional management courses, such as International Trade and Strategy; in addition, Team Building and Conflict Management social skills courses as well as consultancy topics.
Courses like Digital Marketing and Platform Management that are situated at the intersection of management and data science.
Programming with Python and R, the two most common programming languages in data science. (No prior programming knowledge is required — classes are conducted in a practical manner; students work with a variety of datasets to apply machine learning and other analytical techniques.)
Courses focusing on conceptual modeling techniques and tools such as Digital Corporate Governance and Database Management.
Students have the opportunity to earn certification in machine learning and cloud computing through the Amazon Web Services Academy.
These topics are taught not in an abstract manner but always practically — the aim is to make the learning process enjoyable and to stir intrinsic motivation. Current students find this approach very valuable: The courses with seemingly the most difficult materials also have the highest student satisfaction rates.
To gain more practical experience and enhance their skills, students undertake internships at institutions of their choice in their fifth semester. Berlin International supports students in preparing for their internship process and finding a suitable institution. Finally, the Bachelor's Thesis is an opportunity for students to independently and deeply explore a topic of interest.
